Joachim is a 47 year old entrepreneur who is married with 3 children. He contacted me at the end of 2018 with symptoms of pelvic pain. We had an initial Skype session and a number of emails to support and guide Joachim’s understanding of his symptoms and the triggers for flare ups
His symptoms began in the summer of 2017 with itchiness and burning around the tip of penis, urethra and pubic bone. He had a battery of tests that all came back negative including STD and tropical diseases. He was diagnosed with non-bacterial prostatitis. He was experiencing a reduction in his ability to maintain and achieve erections which meant a less than satisfying sex life. There was also a link to digestion, IBS type symptoms and his pelvic pain
As a seriously competitive sprint cyclist Joachim places huge demands on his body. He describes himself as a ‘type A’ personality and is an incredibly successful business man who is in the throes of selling his company.
Here is Joachim’s story of recovery from Pelvic Pain to date:
“My first interaction with The Pelvic Pain Clinic was when I found the website and read other people’s stories. Doing that already had a positive effect. Knowing that there is a way out when you have a chronic condition is uplifting all by itself.
Karl’s own experience gives him an emphatic angle and unique perspective. I am pleased to say that having been through various tests the last few years and having had weeks of flare ups at the time after only a short interaction with Karl I am much better. Really being aware of my nervous system and learning to switch off my Type A personality when it’s not needed was my key. Is it perfect no not yet but then I tell myself that it’s really just my body communicating that I am in the red zone. Flare ups are now usually days and much more bearable. I should add that I am in the middle of so many big life events and yet more centred in myself than before. I consider curing my pelvic pain not only something to do to alleviate symptoms but something to actually better all of me. I can highly recommended any Pelvic pain sufferers to contact Karl and take the first step to a healthier and happier you.”
Although Joachim is not there quite yet he found his interaction with The Pelvic Pain Clinic a hugely significant step on his road to recovery. Understanding the triggers to flare ups is essential in calming the system down. This is so central to taking back control of your life and not feeling at the mercy of pelvic pain symptoms each and every day
