And an insight into the reasons why we need to look beyond the pelvic floor as the only cause for these conditions here and here.
Understanding CPPS and Prostatitis
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS) and Chronic Prostatitis is characterised by persistent pain in the pelvis, perineum, or genitals, often accompanied by urinary or sexual dysfunction. Unlike bacterial prostatitis, CPPS typically shows no signs of infection, yet may mimic many of the same symptoms as well as causing profound physical, psychological and emotional strain.
Your Journey to Recovery: What to Expect
Comprehensive Consultation and Assessment
Before we begin any treatment, it’s vital to understand the root causes and full nature of your symptoms. Prior to your first consultation, you’ll complete a series of clinical intake forms to allow me to build up a complete picture of your case, including:
-
The Pelvic Pain Clinic intake form
-
PCS-EN (Pain Catastrophisation Scale)
-
NIH-CPSI (Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index)
-
PSEQ (Pain Self-Efficacy Questionnaire)
These measures allow us to form a detailed, holistic understanding of your physical and emotional health.
Initial Consultation (Zoom, or Telephone)
Once your forms are received, we’ll arrange an initial 30-minute consultation via Zoom, or telephone. This conversation offers:
-
A deeper understanding of your symptoms.
-
Personalised feedback and advice.
-
Open, honest discussion — often the first time many patients feel truly heard.
-
Clear next steps, including possible face-to-face sessions.
If necessary, I may recommend a referral to another specialist to ensure you receive the most appropriate care. My approach is always honest, realistic, and patient-centred.
